I receive an access violation when attempting to apply a live effect

An access violaton can occur when attempting to apply a live effect or opening a document which has a live effect applied or has been edited by the Xara Picture Editor.

The most likely cause is the program not being added to the DEP Exception list.  Please see the following article to resolve this problem
