How do I transfer saved FTP profiles between program versions?

Saving your FTP information within your file.

This is the easiest way to publish your website from any version, as all the FTP information is saved within your project file. To set it to save, simply go to Utilities > Web Properties > Publish, then check the option "Save Publish settings in document".

Transferring FTP profiles between versions

When you install or upgrade to a new version, your settings and FTP profiles aren't currently carried across, however you can manually transfer them over. To do this,

  1. Close Xara Go to Start > Type "regedit" and press enter.
  2. In the left hand panel, navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Xara\[program]\[version]\Options\FTPprofiles

  3. Right-click on this key > Export. Select your desktop and call it "ftpprofiles". Click Save

  4. Go to your desktop, then right-click on this .reg file > Edit

  5. Change the version number in the key address to the new version. For example, if you are on version 16 and going to version 17, change it from this:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro x64\16\Options\FTPprofiles]

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro x64\16\Options\FTPprofiles\User settings1]

    To this:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro x64\17\Options\FTPprofiles]

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro x64\17\Options\FTPprofiles\User settings1]

    Do this for every FTP profile entry you have

    If you are moving from a different application as well as version. you'll need to update the application in the address as well.

    XtremePro = Designer Pro
    WebDesigner = Web Designer
    WebDesignerPremium = Web Designer Premium

  6. After updating the entries, simply double click on the reg file. This will prompt windows to add the new entries.

    Click yes to import. If you have done everything correctly, when you start Xara you should be able to see all the FTP profiles in your new version.
