How do I apply text to a curve or outline of a shape?

1) Insert your shape* or draw your line / curve

2) Select the text tool and click on your page to create a text line**, and then add your text

3) with the selector tool (V), select both the text line and the shape, then right-click > Fit text to curve.

You can then use the normal text controls to adjust the alignment, and the baseline shift to move the text up and down from the curve.

* Smartshapes will need to be transformed into quickshapes prior to being used as the guide for the text. To transform a smartshape into a quickshape, select it, right-click > ungroup.
