There are 2 types of backgrounds you can apply to text - Text Background Color and Paragraph Background Color
Text Background Color applies a background to just the text only, essentially 'highlighting' it, whereas Paragraph will apply it to the whole paragraph (and therefore the width of the text area).
Paragraph Background are quite useful for making headings stand out, for example in this CV:
To set a color
- Highlight the text with the Text Tool or Select the text object with the Selector Tool
- Right-click on a color in the Color Line
- Select Set Text Background to set just the text, or Set Paragraph Background for the whole paragraph's background
To clear a color
- Highlight the text with the Text Tool or Select the text object with the Selector Tool
- Right-click on the Clear Color icon on the Color Line
- Click on 'Clear Text Background' or 'Clear Paragraph Background'
Please note:
The Paragraph Background Color option is new to V16.3
